Today we packed our bags and headed for the airport. However, because of protest on the main highway and burning tires on the road, we had to go north (away from the airport) and the double back through the mountains. So instead of a 1hr & 15min drive to the airport, it was a 4hr drive along the pothole riddled mountain road. Once we got through the mountains, we started towards Port-au-Prince and ran into more protest, however they hadn’t lit their tires yet, so we had to go back towards the mountains and find another route into the city.

Haiti Day 4 // July 3, 2018
Today we rode in a pick-up truck (I go to sit in the back part) up into the mountains to the village of Lahatte. To get to Lahatte, we had to drive up a dried riverbed.
Haiti Day 3 // July 2, 2018
Today we went back and finished painting the chalkboards and said our goodbyes to our new friends. Me and the girls also got our hair braided in different ways and I played some soccer with the Haitian guys. One of the Haitians I became closest with was a guy named Maxi. He acted as my translator as his english was very good.
Haiti Day 2 // July 1, 2018
Today we hung out around the compound a bit and then went to MPCA, which is the main school in the area run by Mission Possible. We met the students, played some games with them and then went and painted chalkboards. Our team members were Andy and Darren as the leaders, Grace (@grace_cassidyy), Addy (@addisonschafer), Kennah (@kennahh_), my brother Josh (@joshgillam_) and myself.
