Quebec 2019

Quebec Day 4

Today we left Montreal and headed home. On the way back, we stopped at a safari park called Parc Omega, where you drove along the road and got to feed Northern Canadian animals. We saw elk, several species of deer, bison, wolves and many others species. It was super cool! We were going to do some other stops, but we left Montreal later than planned and ran out of light. It was then a long drive back to London.

Quebec Day 3

Today we drove to Quebec City to explore the old city. Quebec City is one of my favorite places in Quebec because it’s like a little piece of Europe in Canada. We went past Chateau Frontenac, went to Quartier Petit Champlain, Place Royal and wandered the side streets. We just barely missed Carnival, which was about a week later, but it was still very busy. Tom, Manny, Vik and I explored most of the day because Mack wasn’t feeling up to it, so her and Adam did their own thing for the day.

Quebec Day 2

Today we went out and explored Montreal. Our airbnb is right downtown about 1 minute from the Notre Dame Basilica and so we walked around the downtown area and shot. I didn’t do a lot of shooting because I don’t like blue skies for shooting and it was pretty sunny out, but it was still fun. We then went to Mont Royal lookout for sunset, which is a lookout over the city. After that we went for dinner at Montreal Poutine and had some iconic poutine, which was really good.

Quebec Day 1

Today I woke up at 3:30 am and got picked up by the others to leave for Montreal. We stopped at a place called Wallingford Back Mine to go explore, however our car couldn’t make it up a hill about a kilometer away, so we parked at a little church and then walked up. I was about a 10 min walk to the road where the mine was, but when we got there, we saw that the road hadn’t been plowed and there was about 2 ft of snow on the road. The others didn’t think it was doable, but I was determined to see the mine as it was supposed to look insanely cool inside and you could skate in it, so I started trudging through the snow. I walk for about 30 mins through the snow, which progressively got deeper, until I could see the mine. I tried to get to it, but by that point the snow was waist deep and I could’t get through it. I got 50 ft away until I couldn’t get forward anymore and then turned back. Manny (who decided to join me later after I left) trudged back to the car and then we drove to Montreal and went to our Airbnb. Not everything goes the way you want it to.
